Tierschutz Austria

Tierschutz Austria (Vienna Animal Welfare Association, Animal Shelter in Vösendorf) is one of the oldest animal welfare and environmental organisations in Europe and the oldest animal welfare association in Austria. Tierschutz Austria is committed to strengthening animal rights, upholding laws, and ensuring fair living conditions for companion animals, farm animals, and wildlife. As a recognised environmental organisation, Tierschutz Austria also advocates for the preservation of habitats for Austria’s wildlife and the protection of native species. Tierschutz Austria supports species and habitat conservation using all democratic means.

Volunteers provide crucial support in managing day-to-day operations. While caring for around 1,200 animals every day across the extensive grounds, staff often carry out tasks beyond the calling and line-of-sight range of their colleagues.
