Who uses AI-Positioning System?

Our solution can be applied in any situation where an employee works alone and or needs immediate assistance. We see a particular need in aggression alarm situations. With AI-PS by MultiBel, the employee in need feels supported knowing that help is on the way and that responders know exactly where they are. The system can be used in hospitals, nursing and care homes, schools and universities, and more. Essentially, anywhere there is a need for mobile personal alarming, such as an aggression button or alarm button.

A nurse in a care home, a doctor in a consultation room, or a teacher at a school, all of them encounter situations where they feel threatened or require immediate support. MultiBel ensures that an accurate location is transmitted, that (available) colleagues, an intervention team, or an alarm centre receive the alert, and that a two-way audio connection can be established if needed.

How does AI-PS work?

STEP 1

Import floor plan

Floor plans of the organisation can be loaded per floor. Key elements can easily be highlighted, for example using colours.

STEP 2

Scan the building

By performing scans at specific locations using the MultiBel app on a smartphone, the rooms are measured. The user stands in a room and performs a scan there, then moves to the next room to scan again. The system learns from the scanned Wi-Fi data per location and gradually builds up an up-to-date dataset of the environment.

STEP 3

Use the system

AI-PS accurately determines the location of a person and automatically includes this information in the alert, enabling faster response times and more efficient assistance.

As more measurement data is collected through regular scanning, the AI model continuously improves in accuracy and reliability. Floor plans and location services are available to all MultiBel users who utilise the AI-PS functionality, providing a scalable and future-proof indoor positioning solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is AI-PS?

The accuracy works at 3D level; in other words, both floors and exact rooms are taken into account in the localisation. Furthermore, the accuracy improves the more frequently and by more people the system is used.

What data is available in AI-PS?

Location: after triggering a personal alarm with AI-PS, the exact location is sent to the intervention team members present, an alarm centre and/or nearby colleagues. The decision as to who receives this is determined by the client.
Heatmap: graphical representations of heatmaps show how the system works and help to identify any problem areas.
Movement (upcoming release): When an employee moves after pressing the alarm button, this movement also becomes visible to the recipient of the alarm.

What are the use cases for AI-PS?

At present, we are focusing on personal alarm systems for professionals on location. Our solution is designed to replace Bluetooth beacons and can carry out indoor positioning entirely using the smartphone.

Think of applications for aggression in healthcare, industry, local government or education.

Do I need a smartphone for AI-PS?

Yes, an employee who wishes to trigger an alarm requires an iOS or Android smartphone. You can choose to activate the alarm via the alarm button in the app, a built-in emergency button on the phone itself, or an external Bluetooth button.

What do the different colours mean in AI-PS?

With AI-PS, the exact position of a person at a location can be determined using a smartphone. When explaining the system, we refer to the 3 layers:

Google Maps
The floor plan of the organisation
Colour zones for rooms or areas

The organisation can configure the colour zones. They are used to make certain zones visually explicit. In other words, internally there may be an agreement to colour a left wing yellow, or to make wet areas blue by default. The configuration is 100% the organisation’s choice and can be adjusted at any time.

We are aware that the position of a person in need of assistance is often not static. After all, a person may still be moving, for example to move away from danger or to seek help.

In the next version of AI-PS, it will therefore be possible to track the movements of the person in real time after the button has been pressed.

Is AI-PS a tracking method?

AI-PS can determine very accurately where a person is located, even in a complex building. However, this only activates once the employee triggers the emergency button.

At that point, the employee’s current location is sent to nearby colleagues or an alarm centre.

Where is AI-PS used in practice?

For the Proof of Concept, we rolled out our new AI-PS solution at a number of large organisations in the Netherlands (industry, healthcare, mental health care and hospitals).

The organisations were looking for a solution to improve the safety of their employees. In quotes from other suppliers, they had been put off by the costs and complications of Bluetooth beacons.

Quite quickly, the PoC clients indicated that they were impressed by the accuracy and ease of use.

Does AI-PS work in a basement as well?

Yes. Because AI-PS works on the basis of Wi-Fi signals and a scanned floor plan, it makes no difference whether you are on the ground floor, in the basement or on the tenth floor. For AI-PS, every floor is equivalent.

Who can scan the floor plan for AI-PS?

Scanning the floor plan requires no technical knowledge, a smartphone with the MultiBel app is sufficient. MultiBel can also carry out the scanning on your behalf if you prefer.

Is my network good enough for AI-PS?

Almost all organisations already have a suitable network. Should there be a coverage gap, this can be resolved easily, cost-effectively and without any maintenance.

Does AI-PS work together with our existing MultiBel system?

Yes, AI-PS works exclusively in combination with the MultiBel app. Are you already using our MultiBel Protect solution (within MultiBel Professional) for, for example, lone workers? Then the rollout of AI-PS is straightforward and quick to implement. Are you not yet a MultiBel Protect customer? Then we would be happy to discuss the full solution with you.
