MultiBel introduces AI-PS Artificial Intelligence Positioning System: an innovative indoor positioning solution that requires no beacons or additional infrastructure.

The system delivers highly accurate location data, requires no additional investment, needs no manual calibration or maintenance checks, and continuously improves through self-learning technology.

AI-PS can determine a person’s location within a building to within a few metres. By combining simplicity with high-quality positioning, AI-PS immediately enhances workplace safety. Importantly, it operates entirely via a smartphone and is fully integrated into the MultiBel platform.

AI-PS is often used for aggression and duress alerting. Personal safety monitoring in complex buildings has never been easier.

How does AI-PS improve the safety of your employees?

An employee is confronted by an aggressive patient. She presses the alarm button, and within seconds the response team knows her exact location: third floor, left wing, room 306.

That is AI-PS. Transforming the way organisations protect their people.

Until now, location determination has primarily relied on GPS (outdoors) or beacons (indoors). Both methods have drawbacks which, broadly speaking, come down to accuracy and cost.

Wat is Artificial Intelligence Positioning System?

The newest method is AI-PS: Artificial Inteligence Positioning System. AI-PS overcomes the key limitations of traditional positioning methods. The system is far more accurate, requires no additional investment, needs no inspections or maintenance, and continuously improves itself.

By leveraging advanced artificial intelligence, AI-PS can locate individuals within a building to within a few metres, providing the accuracy needed for faster response, greater visibility, and improved workplace safety.

So how does Artificial Intelligence Positioning System (AI-PS) work?

Without getting too technical, the concept is remarkably simple.

AI-PS Location Scanning

Scanning location

AI-PS uses digital floor plans as the foundation for indoor positioning. During setup, a smartphone is used to walk through the building and create a detailed digital model of the environment.

Think of it as a highly detailed map that captures the unique characteristics of the building, including walls, doors, floors, ceilings, windows, and other environmental factors that influence signal behaviour.

The quality of this digital model improves as additional scans are performed. The more thoroughly and consistently different areas are scanned, the more detailed and accurate the positioning information becomes.

Creating a digital floor plan

The result of the scanning process and AI-PS technology is a detailed digital representation of the building, based on precise XYZ coordinates. This digital floor plan can be enhanced with labels, colours, and location descriptions to provide a clear and intuitive view of the environment.

For example, organisations may choose to assign different colours to specific wings or departments. A location can then be displayed in a clear and familiar format, such as: ā€œThird Floor, West Wing, Room 306ā€.

This makes it easy for responders and colleagues to quickly understand where an employee is located, even in large or complex buildings.

Continuous learning

Every time the MultiBel app is active within the building, AI-PS automatically refines and improves its digital model. If the environment changes, for example, when a partition wall is added, the system can detect these changes and adapt accordingly, without requiring manual updates.

This continuous learning capability helps ensure that the positioning model remains up to date, even as the building evolves over time.

Alarm with precise location information

The employee’s location is automatically added to the alarm message. Thanks to the integration of the AI-PS digital floor plan with Google Maps, responders can immediately see where the incident or individual is located.

Location information is presented in a clear and familiar format, enabling responders to navigate quickly to the correct floor, wing, and room. This reduces response times and helps ensure that assistance reaches the right location as quickly as possible.

Coming soon: real-time movement visibility

If the employee moves after triggering an alarm, responders can see their movement in real time on the digital floor plan. This allows them to monitor the situation as it unfolds and navigate directly to the employee’s current location.

Where is AI-PS being used in practice?

As part of the proof of concept phase, MultiBel deployed AI-PS at several large organisations across the Netherlands, including industrial companies, healthcare providers, mental health institutions, and hospitals.

These organisations were looking for a better way to improve employee safety. Many had been surprised by the cost and operational challenges associated with traditional beacon-based indoor positioning systems.

Feedback from the proof of concept participants was positive from an early stage. Organisations were particularly impressed by the accuracy of the positioning technology and the ease of use of the system.

How can I use AI-PS?

Would you like to see how accurately AI-PS can locate your employees within your organisation? We would be pleased to demonstrate the system and show you what it can achieve in a real-world environment.

Schedule a no-obligation demonstration and discover why leading healthcare providers, hospitals, and industrial organisations are choosing AI-PS (Artificial Intelligence Positioning System) to enhance employee safety and incident response.
