The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) is an academic medical institution that unites the three core areas of research, teaching, and patient care.
As the only maximum-care provider in southern Lower Saxony, UMG plays a central role in regional healthcare, encompassing more than 60 clinics, institutes, and departments. Each year, the hospital treats over 65,000 inpatients and approximately 230,000 outpatients.
UMG collaborates closely with the University of Göttingen and other research institutions. This strong integration of clinical practice and research ensures that patients benefit directly from the latest medical advancements.
Measured by the number of applicants for study places, UMG is also among the largest medical faculties in Germany, with nearly 4,000 enrolled students.
MultiBel at UMG

At the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), MultiBel is primarily used to alert the emergency coordination team, the plant fire brigade, and in the event of technical malfunctions.
Using predefined groups, the system reliably alerts the right personnel in cases such as fire, water damage, or power outages. It is essential to ensure that qualified staff are always available. This requirement is met through the integration of duty rosters and various attendance registration technologies within the MultiBel system.
The implementation of the MultiBel system went very smoothly, and a seamless transition from the old to the new system was successfully achieved.
The setup process went exactly as expected and caused no issues.
The system is easy to understand — and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
