Emergency Response Team Alerting

DB InfraGO AG is the infrastructure company of Deutsche Bahn and is responsible for the operation, maintenance and continuous development of Germany’s railway network and its passenger stations.
As the operator of one of Europe’s largest transport infrastructures, DB InfraGO AG places the highest demands on safety, availability and reliable operational communication. In particular, during incidents and emergencies, information must be communicated quickly, in a structured manner and to a large number of responsible teams and stakeholders.
With a strong focus on maintaining a safe, stable and efficient railway operation, DB InfraGO AG continuously optimises its operational safety and incident response processes while integrating modern digital solutions into its existing infrastructure.
Challenges
For DB InfraGO AG Passenger Stations, fast, coordinated communication and alerting are essential during incidents and emergencies. In particular, when severe weather is forecast or operational incidents occur, a large number of responsible employees and response teams must be informed and mobilised quickly and reliably, often through multiple escalation levels.
The objective was to implement a flexible and cost-effective alerting solution capable of issuing both early notifications and operational deployment alerts without delay.
Efficient Emergency Response Team Alerting with MultiBel
With MultiBel, DB InfraGO AG Passenger Stations found a solution that not only met these requirements but was further enhanced through close collaboration. To support the organisation’s complex alerting structure, a targeted escalation feature was developed as part of the project. This enables predefined groups to be alerted automatically following the initial notification, depending on the situation and the responses received from the first responders.
This functionality was developed in close cooperation with DB InfraGO AG Passenger Stations and has since become a valuable feature for many other MultiBel customers.
Results
MultiBel was successfully implemented within a short timeframe. User acceptance was high from the very beginning, with staff immediately recognising the platform’s ease of use and reliability.
During major operational disruptions, MultiBel now ensures that the right people are informed in advance, alerted at the appropriate moment and deployed to the correct operational locations and railway stations.
Conclusion
DB InfraGO AG Passenger Stations rates MultiBel 5 out of 5 stars and is extremely satisfied with the collaboration. In addition to the platform’s high reliability and flexibility, the partnership itself has been a key success factor. MultiBel not only fulfilled the organisation’s requirements but also worked together with DB InfraGO AG Passenger Stations to develop new functionality that now benefits many other customers.
MultiBel not only met our requirements, but also introduced new possibilities. The implementation was completed faster than we expected, and the collaboration has remained highly effective and solution-oriented, even after the project was delivered.
